In 1978, Dr. Robert B. Sica founded Neuropsychology Rehabilitation Services – LifeSpan in Neptune, New Jersey. This joint program, consisting of a comprehensive multi-specialty psychology practice and an out-patient neuropsychological rehabilitation program, was one of the six original programs treating traumatic brain injury (TBI) in NJ. During this period, Dr. Sica also helped develop the NJ Head Injury Association of which he was an advisory board member. He went on to acquire the state's first certificate of need for a forty bed transitional living facility for TBI patients in 1985.

Dr. Sica, a board-certified neuropsychologist, was trained to treat the full spectrum of brain disorders, including, but not limited to, traumatic brain injuries, cerebral vascular accidents, brain tumors, various types of dementias, and learning disabilities.

Dr. Sica's area of practice is clinical neuropsychology and forensic neuropsychology. He obtained his B.A. in psychology from Monmouth University, Long Branch, N.J., a Master's in research design in psychology from the New School for Social Research, N.Y., and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, CA, in 1978. He rotated through a number of pre-doctoral internships beginning at Los Angeles County General Hospital, then to California Pediatrics Hospital, and finally to Los Angeles County Family Guidance Clinic. He completed a two year post-doctoral residency at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, N.J., and then proceeded with further rotations at Beth Israel Hospital at Harvard University, Neurodiagnostic Unit at University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, N.Y.Dr. Sica obtained his first board certification in neuropsychology in 1984 from the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology (ABN), and second in 1992.

Dr. Sica is a staff clinical neuropsychologist at Jersey Shore University Medical Center(JSUMC), Neuroscience Division and Riverview Medical Center, both members of the Hackensack Meridian Health Care System, where he treats patients along with his academic responsibilities of teaching medical students, neuropsychological interns and residents. Dr. Sica was the first neuropsychologist on staff at JSUMC. Through his knowledge and experience, he established an American Psychological Association accredited Neuropsychological Intern/Residency program at JSUMC.In addition, he is a clinical assistant professor at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Besides his practice and hospital responsibilities, Dr. Sica is a forensic consultant in probate, worker's compensation, social security disability, and personal injury matters. He has provided expert testimony on behalf of plaintiff and defense. In addition, he conducts independent medical examinations.

Dr. Sica is also an examiner for the ABN and a member and fellow in many professional organizations. He has lectured and written on neuropsychology and forensic neuropsychology, drawing upon his over 40 years of diverse experience.
